Drunk Driving and a Crunchwrap: Taco Bell Crash Lands Man in Jail

A midnight taco run took a hard turn for the worse when Evan Holmes allegedly rear-ended another driver in the Taco Bell drive-thru, offered his Snapchat instead of insurance, and then sped off — only to be stopped a few minutes later at the scene of another crash. 🚗 A Drive-Thru Disaster It happened just after 1 a.m. at the South Point Taco Bell. Deputies say Holmes’ red Ford Ranger bumped into the back of another truck while waiting in line. The driver got out to check the damage and found Holmes with his pants unbuttoned, slurring his words, and smelling of alcohol. When told the police were on their way, Holmes reportedly asked, “Do you want my phone number or Snapchat?” Moments later, he burned rubber out of the parking lot, heading toward County Road 144. 🚨 From Crunchwrap to Crash Scene Deputies patrolling the area didn’t have to look far — they found Holmes’ pickup caught in traffic near an unrelated OVI crash. When stopped, Holmes claimed he wasn’t fleeing the scene but was rushing to help his pregnant sister. That story began to unravel quickly. Deputies noticed blue paint transfer and fresh damage on his front bumper that matched the other driver’s truck. They also reported the smell of alcohol coming from the cab and Holmes’ red, glassy eyes. Inside the vehicle, officers spotted a half case of Bud Light and an open beer can in a koozie. Holmes eventually admitted to the drive-thru crash, saying, “I wasn’t trying to run or anything… anybody would do it if their sister was in trouble.” ⚖️ Strike Three for Holmes When officers asked him to take a field sobriety test, Holmes declined, joking that “you’ve seen all those TikToks — you just can’t win.” Deputies arrested him for OVI, leaving the scene of an accident, and misconduct at the scene of an emergency. A criminal records check revealed that Holmes had two prior OVI convictions earlier this year — the most recent in March. He was booked into the Lawrence County Jail to await arraignment. If your late-night taco craving ends in a fender-bender, don’t drive off — and definitely don’t do it drunk. Offering your Snapchat instead of insurance might get you followers, but it won’t keep you out of jail.
