A hit-and-run driver took out a utility pole at 11th Street at Hutchins just after 7:30 in the morning.
Witnesses said the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee hit the pole and fled the scene. Ohio State Patrol officers arrived on the scene to assist with the investigation.

PPD notified Portsmouth City Services about debris in the roadway and contacted AEP about the downed pole.
Police tracked down the vehicle to Mary Ann Street and impounded it. Portsmouth Police cited a woman for failure to control her vehicle. Additionally, OSP cited the woman for OVI and driving under a suspended license.
