It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Edith Kay Waddell, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, who departed from this world on September 3, 2026, at the age of 81. Born in Jamestown, Ohio, Edith stood as a vibrant testament to the beauty of life and the strength of faith. She was a devoted wife to the late Charles D. Waddell for 54 cherished years, with whom she shared a love that was deeply rooted in their shared Christian beliefs.
Edith spent many years as a line worker in the fiberglass industry at Goodyear. Her contributions in the workplace were significant, but it was her role as a loving mother, grandmother and beautiful woman of God that defined her legacy.
She is survived by her beloved children: Randolph D. (Bonnie) Waddell, Timothy “Bo” (Camilla) Waddell, and Victoria L. Waddell; grandchildren: David Wesley (Nancy) Caudill, Jordan Michah Waddell, Brittany Rochelle (Derek) Johnson, Timothy Charles Waddell, and Tyler Scott (Stormi) Waddell; great grandchildren: Lochlan, Bradley, Dalton, Elijah, Wyatt, Madelyn, Kaylee, Kai, Christian, Kayden, Tobias; brother in laws and sister in laws: Craig (Debbie) Waddell, Terry (Emma) Waddell, and Margret Waddell, all who carry forward Edith’s spirit of resilience and grace. Not only did she bless her family, but her special family and friends: Anita (John) Chaney, Brad (Elena & Damon) Chaney, Ross (Bekah) Chaney, special friends and family in WV, Marissa (Amelia) Stiles, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A faithful prayer warrior, Edith’s strength was drawn from her unwavering Christian faith. She often spoke of her excitement in anticipation of Jesus’s embrace, a testament to her joyful belief in the life beyond. Each morning, you’d find her sitting on her porch, where she sipped her coffee, immersed in her Bible, and lovingly observed the various wildlife that graced her garden. In quieter moments, she often found solace in her embroidery, creating pieces that reflected her gentle creativity.
She will be reunited with all those whom preceded her in death, her loving parents Otis and Edith Nola (Nee Freeland) Curtis, beloved husband Charles D. Waddell, her siblings: Helen (Carl) Laurnes, Virginia (Charlie) Clark, Chuck Curtis, Frank Curtis, Joann (Ray) Krewson, Patricia (Vernon) Sparks, and Palmetta Curtis; her loving in laws, Randolph and Jean Waddell, brother in laws Thomas and Barry Waddell,
Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Edith’s life at a graveside service on September 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Burial Park, located at 10556 Gallia Pike, Wheelersburg, OH. As we come together, let us reminisce about her infectious laughter, her servant’s heart, and the unwavering love she extended to all. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we invite all who knew and loved Edith to partake in this moment of reflection, remembrance, and shared grace.
