Eight-year-old Reported With Butcher Knife

Portsmouth Police responded to Thomas Avenue after a report that an 8-year-old swung a butcher knife at a 15-year-old.

The caller said he was with the child when he found a butcher knife on the ground. When he bent down to pick up another toy, the child swung the knife at him. 

However, upon further investigation, police learned that the incident happened when a woman came up to the pair and told the child to give her the knife. The child threw the knife and then took off running.

Police took information for a report

Homeless Woman with Golf Club Stops Traffic

A troubled homeless woman who has been arrested multiple times and is frequently known to run out in traffic caused a stir around 5 pm.

A caller said she was out in the street approaching vehicles with a golf club in her hand. 

When officers spoke to her, they said she seemed fine. Police told her to stay out of traffic. 

Police Investigate Doggie Dispute in Wayne Hills

A pair of Wayne Hills residents are at odds over who exactly owned a dog. 

A Kendall Avenue resident contacted police at 5:15 pm to report her dog had gone missing and that people were telling her it was not at a Thomas Avenue apartment. 

However, the residents of the Thomas Avenue apartment refused to return the dog and said it was not hers.

The officer spoke to the people on Thomas Avenue and said there was no way to determine who the dog belonged to and that it was a matter for civil court.
