Elderly Man Trapped In Cold With Beloved Dogs
An elderly man reached out to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office in the wee hours of Christmas Day to ask for help for himself and his beloved pets.
Just before 1 am, he called 9-1-1, looking for the number for the Red Cross. The man had no heat in his home and no vehicle to make his way to a warming station.
When a deputy arrived at the home to investigate, the man said he didn’t want to leave his dogs alone in the house and that his heat had only recently gone out.
A deputy gave the man the number for the Red Cross to see if they might be able to loan him a space heater. The man spoke to a Red Cross representative in the deputy’s presence, and they told the man they would get back to him if they were able to help.
