Elizabeth Ann Hope, affectionately known as “Liz,” passed away peacefully at her home in Ocklawaha, Florida, on January 19, 2026. She was 68 years old. Born on December 10, 1957, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Elizabeth was the beloved daughter of Harold and Pauline Scott.
From an early age, Liz had a passion for helping others feel beautiful and confident, which led her to a lifelong career as a cosmetologist. Through her work, she touched countless lives—not only with her skill, but with her warmth, kindness, and welcoming spirit. Liz had a way of making people feel at ease, and her chair was often a place of laughter, conversation, and comfort.
Elizabeth was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her son, Steven Taylor of Tampa, Florida; her daughter, Stephanie Phillips of Ocklawaha, Florida; and her cherished grandson, Shawn Taylor of Ocklawaha, Florida. She also leaves behind her loving sisters Wanda Artressia of Florida, Violet “Kim” Allred of Ohio, and Sadie Wilshire of Illinois; her brothers Johnny Ray Scott of Ohio and Lee Scott of Ohio; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, along with a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert Walter Hope; her parents, Harold and Pauline Scott; her sister, Judy Marshall; her brothers, Roger Scott and Harold Scott; and her grandson, Matthew Taylor, all of whom she now joins in eternal peace.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced. Family and friends will gather to honor Liz’s memory, share stories, and celebrate the love she gave so freely throughout her life.
“You left too soon, but your name will live on forever. You are gone, but you are no longer suffering. Watch over us always.”
