Emma Jean Myers

Emma Jean Myers, resident of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024, at the age of 95. She was born April 14, 1928, in Portsmouth to the late Fred and Thelma Jones. She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years whom she married on October 6, 1946, David “Gene” Myers.

Emma was a graduate of Portsmouth High School. She was a devoted member of the First Christian Church in Portsmouth, Ohio, as well as a member of the Shawnee State University Golden Bears. Emma retired from the Portsmouth City Health Department as a legal secretary.

Emma is survived by a son Fred (Mitzi) Myers of Portsmouth; three daughters, Cathy (Dan Bangor) Chambers of Portsmouth, Cheryl Matiz of Portsmouth, and Cindy (Dave) Brittain of Portsmouth; a sister, Mary Louise Ratliff; five grandchildren, Josh Matiz, Lindsay Barron, Erin Roseberry, David Myers, and Josh Myers; nine great-grandchildren, Leila Myers, Olive Myers, Rosie Myers, J.D. Matiz, Lauren Matiz, Conor Welch, Miles Roseberry, Sloane Roseberry, and Naomi Roseberry; along with several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who will love and miss her dearly.

In honoring Emma’s memory, the family invites relatives and friends to visitation on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 12 Noon to 1:00 PM.

Funeral service immediately following at 1:00 PM at FC Daehler Mortuary, 915 9th Street, Portsmouth, OH 45662, with interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
