‘Evil’ Mom Pleads Guilty to Killing Three Boys

27-year-old Bellefontaine woman will be spending at least 37 years behind bars

Brittany Pilkington pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and two counts of murder in the deaths of three baby boys. She was sentenced to consecutive two life sentences but could be released in 37 years as the result of a plea deal.

Prosecutors alleged that she was motivated by jealousy over the attention the children received from her husband. Pilkington’s killing spree began in July of 2014 when she suffocated three-month-old Niall in July of 2014. Four-year-old Gavin was suffocated in April of 2015, and three-month-old Noah in August of 2015.

The State originally asked for the death penalty, but ultimately decided that it was not appropriate due to Pilkington’s mental defects.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said, “A guilty plea cannot undo the heartless acts this woman committed against defenseless children – she does not deserve to be called mom. But locking her up will at least guarantee she won’t be able to repeat this evil.”

During the trial, it was revealed that Pilkington’s husband had a relationship with her when she was underage and had previously dated her mother.

Defense attorneys claimed her judgment was impaired by a history of sexual abuse and lead poisoning.
