A late-night family drama led deputies to check on a runaway teen who claimed she was living in inhumane conditions—but her guardian aunt had a very different story to tell.

Deputies were sent to do a well-being check after reports surfaced that a young girl wanted to run away due to physical and mental abuse. When officers arrived at the home, the girl’s aunt and legal guardian told a very different version of events.

Stolen Credit Card & A Tattoo Debate?

According to the aunt, the teen was actually grounded for stealing her credit card and using it to order food from DoorDash. When confronted, the girl denied it until the aunt pointed out she could track down the orders—then she admitted it.

The punishment? Two weeks grounded. But things took a turn when the girl got into a heated phone call with her boyfriend. The argument? She was desperate to stop him from getting an AK-47 tattoo. When told to stay inside, the teen stormed out and ran away.

A Battle Of Accusations

But the teen had her own claims. She told deputies the house was “disgusting” and that she only stole the credit card because the food at home “had roaches in it.” She also accused her aunt and other relatives of mistreating her, saying one family member even ripped the blankets off her to “treat her like a two-year-old.”

Adding fuel to the fire, another relative claimed the girl had hidden alcohol in her room and had previously stolen money to buy a THC vape.

CPS Steps In—But Not Right Away

Deputies contacted Child Protective Services several times, but the agency said they wouldn’t be coming out until the next day.

For now, it’s a waiting game to see what CPS decides and whether this family drama can be resolved—or if it’s just the beginning of an even bigger battle.
