Fatal Crash Claims Life of Blue Creek Resident

Sunday, October 1st, at 7:25 PM, the Portsmouth Dispatch Center of the Ohio State Highway Patrol received a distress call. The OSP report details a pickup truck striking a tree along State Route 125, near State Forest Road #1, just outside Boy Scout Camp Oyo.

Amanda Cooper, a 44-year-old resident of Blue Creek, Ohio, was behind the wheel of a 2001 Ford Ranger, traveling eastbound on State Route 125. Mrs. Cooper veered off the left side of the road, striking a tree with her vehicle. Ms. Cooper suffered life-threatening injuries and tragically died at the scene.

The OSP report revealed that Ms. Cooper was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Neither impairment nor drug use is suspected as a contributing factor to the crash. The circumstances surrounding this fatal collision are currently being investigated.

The Ohio State Patrol led the response at the accident site, with assistance from several local agencies, including the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department, EMT-Ohio EMS, the Scioto County Coroner’s office, AirEvac, and the Nile Township Fire Department.
