Deputies launched an investigation with the assistance of the FBI after a middle school was hit with pipe bomb threats at the start of the school day.
Multiple administrators received an email saying that someone had placed three pipe bombs in black duffle bags about the school. Deputies responded to Symmes Valley Middle School and began to search for anything suspicious.
Detectives also began to track down the IP address where the email came from. Officers found nothing out of place at the school.
While waiting for information from Google about who sent the email, deputies received a call from Fram View Police near Marion, OH, because several schools in their district received the same threat.
The FBI eventually learned the threats came from a phone in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The two police departments agreed to share the results of their investigation with each other and with the FBI.
