Flames of Suspicion: Scoggins Family Faces Allegations of Arson

On Saturday evening, Union Township Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at 367 Pleasant Hill Rd. The incident, reported just after 6:30 pm, led to a subsequent call to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle’s owner claimed that the fire was intentionally set, naming a member of the Scoggins family as the suspect.

The Scoggins family is well-known to both law enforcement and the local community, with one family member having an outstanding warrant and evading capture multiple times. Their reputation has even prompted a tongue-in-cheek election sign for one of them to become the Mayor.

Upon arrival at the scene, fire department officials engaged in discussions with the owner, who firmly asserted that the vehicle was purposely set ablaze. In response to the gravity of the situation, deputies were called in to initiate an investigation into the alleged arson.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident. Currently, authorities are investigating claims raised by the vehicle owner, who pointed out the Scoggins family’s involvement.

The community remains eager to see that appropriate action is taken by law enforcement to address any potential criminal activity surrounding this notorious family. Further updates on the ongoing investigation are anticipated in the coming days.
