Free Live-Saving Training at Tracy Park This Weekend

The American Heart Association is teaming up with Shawnee Family Health Center and Anthem BCBS to offer free lifesaving hands-only CPR training at Tracy Park this Saturday.

Unlike traditional CPR which requires both rescue breaths and chest compressions, hands-only CPR consists of two simple steps. However, studies show it is as effective as traditional CPR. If you administer it immediately to a victim, it can double or triple a person’s chance of survival.

According to the organizers, over 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside of hospitals every year. This training turns bystanders into lifesavers.

The training will be offered at Tracy Park on Saturday, May 4 from 11 am to 2 pm. The first 50 attendees will get an adult/child CPR Anytime kit they can use to train family and friends. There’s no need to register ahead of time and the training is free.
