Gary L. Amburgey, age 73, of Portsmouth, passed away on March 10, 2020 SOMC in Portsmouth. He was born November 26, 1946 in Rubyville to Robert Humphrey and Lillian Orrin (Reed) Amburgey. Gary worked as a counselor for the Good Shepherd Manor in Wakefield. He enjoyed NASCAR, tractor pulls, playing with his dogs, and was known as a joker.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Amburgey; son, Robert Lee Amburgey or Portsmouth; daughter, Rhonda Amburgey Dunaway of Portsmouth; one grandchild, Brandy Shultz; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Amburgey; sister, Phyllis Allard; grandchild, Marisa Shultz.
