Gary Ray Rawlins, 65, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, passed from this world and into the arms of his Heavenly father on November 21, 2024 at SOMC Hospice, after a brief illness. Born November 1, 1959, to Robert and Norma Jean Rawlins; Gary was a beloved member of the community, known for his kind heart and infectious smile. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Gary was passionate about his work and lived every day to the fullest, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. He was an avid hunter and a renowned taxidermist who took great pride in his artistry. The thing he loved most was being surrounded by his family and spending time enjoying the simple pleasures of life with them. He was never happier than when the house was filled with the squeals, giggles, and happy chaos of having his grandchildren there. He also loved quiet time alone with his wife; simply strolling through a flea market or having a quiet meal at any random spot they chose.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.
In addition to his parents, Gary was proceeded in death by a brother-in-law, John Kevin Bailey, and an honorary Grandson, Eric Ryan Rawlins Jr.
Left to keep his memory alive is his wife of 41 years, Anita Lynn (Bailey) Rawlins, Four sons; Joshua Bo and wife Heather Rawlins, Ethan Boone (Josie ) Rawlins, Travis Brett (Jamie) Rawlins, and Wyatt Bryce (Vanessa) Rawlins. Ten Grandchildren; Korbin, Weylyn, Jordan, Bella, Elliana, Shawn, Annabelle, Paige, Johnathan, and Michael. Honorary Sons; Eric Ryan Rawlins and wife Jaime, Erik Michael (Dana) Osborne, and Honorary Grandchildren; Levi, Madison, Casey, Bryleigh, James, and Chloe.
A sister; Debbie (Craig) Waddell, Brother; Daniel (Valorie) Rawlins, Sister-in-law; Elizabeth Johnson, Mother and Father-in- law, John E and Linda K. Bailey , A special brother/Uncle; Clarence Rawlins, Nieces; Bobby (Billy) Duncan and Kelly (Jason) Downs. Nephews; Adam (Shay) Waddell, Ryan (Hope)Rawlins, Austin (Destiny ) Rawlins, and John Edward Bailey ll. Several great nieces, nephews along with countless friends and extended family.
Funeral Service will be 6:00 PM, Monday, November 25, 2024 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in South Webster. Officiated by Vearl Adkins
The family will welcome friends for Visitation, Monday prior to service, from 4:00-6:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in his honor to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The Ronald McDonald House.
