General Mills Announces $100 Million Investment in Jackson County

General Mills continues its expansion in Jackson County by investing $100 million in its Wellston facility. The food giant has a history of providing stable employment to Jackson County residents for over 30 years. The company’s latest expansion will result in an increase of 30 jobs.

The investment will be used to shoulder the costs of infrastructure, machinery, and equipment for the Wellstone facility to produce pizzas and pizza rolls under the Totino’s brand. It will have over 1000 full-time workers.

Totino’s started out as a small pizza parlor in Minnesota in 1951. Today, the brand has scaled its operations across the country and sells over 300 million party pizzas per year across the nation.

This project is supported by a tax credit from the Ohio Department of Development and a $400,000 JobsOhio grant.

The Jackson County Economic Development Partnership (JCEDP) will be providing infrastructure support to aid the expansion project.

General Mills is just one of many food manufacturers that have set up operations in Jackson County. The county accounts for almost three percent of the nation’s frozen food workforce with over 2,500 workers.

It is anticipated that this project will bring significant benefits to Jackson County after it is completed.
