George Dennis Burchett, 81 of New Boston

George Dennis Burchett

George Dennis Burchett, 81 years old, of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

George was born in New Boston, Ohio, on December 6, 1944, to the late Samual Burchett and Nellie Horsely Burchett. He attended Glenwood High School in New Boston, Ohio, before going to work at the Dayton-Walther Corporation, where he retired after 32 years of service.

In 1986, through a close friend, George met the love of his life, Betty Anne Moore Burchett. Excited to start their life together, the two were soon married at Rosemount Community Church.

George is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty Anne Burchett; daughter Karla Mosley; grandchildren Amy Engle Kegley, Paul Engle, Mary Mosley, and Jeremy Todd; eleven grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a host of family extending to brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

George built a life centered on service. He lived a devoted life focused on the Word of God and was an active member of Christ Sanctuary in Sciotoville, Ohio. He will be remembered for his friendly nature and always lending a helping hand to his friends and neighbors.

We will always cherish George singing some little tune or saying some silly phrase. His wife lovingly called him Doo-Dah because he often sang the Camptown Races song. His family could not have asked for a better husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend.

George Dennis Burchett will be missed every day. His legacy of kindness and devotion will live on in the hearts of all those who loved Him.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
