Good Samaritan Gets Window Busted

Flames shot into the sky after a car was engulfed in fire on Wayne Avenue and a suspicious man with a gun reported at the Four Keys Inn. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing. 

Cry For Help

Officers assisted a worried mom who said her son was on meth, had a knife, and was having thoughts of self-harm. She said he was at a 14th Street address.

When officers checked that address, the resident gave them permission to search, but the son was not there. 

Under the Influence

At 9 pm, a caller reported a man in a camo coat acting as if he was on drugs at the Valero Gas station on Gallia. A woman took the man home with her to look after him. 

At 11 pm, a passerby flagged down police to report someone passed out in a vehicle at 4th and Chillicothe. The officer told police he was just very sleepy. Police said the man did not appear to be intoxicated.

An Elmwood Drive caller contacted officers at 10:27 pm to report paper flying all over her front porch.  She feared someone could be outside.

Officers headed to the scene and found the front of the home covered with toilet paper. Police officers picked up the toilet paper and disposed of it. 

Gun Spotted at the Four Keys Inn

Just after midnight, a caller reported a man acting suspiciously with a long gun of some type at the Four Keys Inn. 

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an individual with an open warrant and took him into custody. 

Car Bursts Into Flames in Wayne Hills

A car burst into flames in the 1800 block of Wayne Avenue just before 2 am. Flames shot into the sky and were bright enough to be seen from Kendall Avenue where residents recorded the fire on their phones.

The vehicle’s owner reported having electrical problems with the car recently and officers said there was no sign of foul play. Police arranged to have the vehicle towed.

Good Samaritan Gets Window Busted

Proving that no good deed goes unpunished, a woman contacted police at 7:33 am to report that she gave a man a ride and he got mad and busted out the window of her vehicle. 

He then took off in the direction of Speedway. Police took information for a report.
