Grandma Claims Granddaughter Stole Her Dog  and other Dog Tails from around the County

An upset grandma contacted Portsmouth Police to report her granddaughter stole her dog. She said the theft happened in Lancaster back in June.  

When officers contacted the granddaughter, she said that when her grandmother was stuck in the hospital for an extended period of time, she gave permission for the granddaughter to rehome the dog.  

Additionally, she said Grandma had already attempted to file charges in Lancaster. Officers explained that this was a civil matter. 

Vicious Dogs Terrorize West Avenue 

A Lucasville resident contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office to report dogs terrorizing West Avenue neighbors.  

They said the dogs have killed chickens and attempted to bite people walking in the roadway. The caller said they tried talking to both the dogs’ owner and the Dog Warden without success.  

A deputy spoke to the dog’s owners and advised them of the leash laws and the requirement to have dog tags.  

Officers advised the reporting party to get photos of the dogs if they are on the loose again and send them to the Dog Warden 

Burglars Steal Dogs From Home 

Just before 7 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a burglary at a home on St. Rte. 73. The caller said someone broke the back window and door, entered the home, and stole their dogs.  

Deputies contacted local hospitals and asked them to be on the lookout for anyone with a dog bite and took information for a report.
