Gregory Eugene Miers, 66, of Portsmouth, passed peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Best Care Nursing Home in Wheelersburg. He was born August 25, 1956, in Marion, a son of the late “Mouse” Paul Eugene Miers and “Charlie” Charlene Conklin Mitchell.
A 1975 graduate of Portsmouth High School, Greg retired after 34 years with Verizon, where he worked as an installer. He was kind-hearted and never met a stranger. Greg always had a piece of candy ready to give out to people he met, which gave him great happiness. An avid arrowhead hunter, he enjoyed spending time with his family, watching sports, and getting his morning cup of coffee while meeting with his buddies at McDonalds.
Surviving is his only daughter, Megan Jo (Bryce) Hall of Lockbourne, and his grandson, Hudson Hall; three sisters, Cindy (Mitch) Keating of Portsmouth, Diane (Dave) Humble of Columbus, and Denise (Teddie) Weeks of Lucasville; and several nieces, nephews, and their families.
At his request, there are to be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
Greg loved animals, and the family requests that contributions in his memory be made to Sierra’s Haven for New and Used Pets, 80 Easter Dr., Portsmouth, OH 45662.
