Gunshot Scare at Church After Midnight

Flashlights, Two Cars, Handgun Found, One Runs

late-night disturbance at a church parking lot prompted a police response after a caller reported possible gunshots, moving vehicles, and suspicious activity.

Deputies were called to Pleasant Hill Church around 1 a.m. after a resident told dispatch she heard what she believed were gunshots. She reported that there was one vehicle in the lot when she heard the noises—but about 10 minutes later, a second vehicle appeared. She also said she saw someone running toward the vehicles with a flashlight.

Deputies Respond, Gun Located

When deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with the people at the church. One man gave deputies permission to search his vehicle, during which officers located a handgun.

As deputies were handling the situation, one individual fled on foot. An officer quickly caught up with him.

Citation Issued, Released to Family

Instead of an arrest, the individual who ran was issued a criminal citation and given a court date. He was then released to his mother.

No injuries were reported, and deputies documented the incident.

A Quiet Church, a Loud Call

While it remains unclear whether actual gunshots were fired, the call shows how quickly suspicious activity at a church—especially in the middle of the night—can escalate into a full law enforcement response.

After deputies cleared the scene, Pleasant Hill Church returned to quiet—but for a while, the flashing lights replaced the sanctuary calm.
