Guyneth Marie Holbrook, 86 of South Shore

Guyneth Marie Wells Holbrook, 86 of South Shore, KY peacefully passed away at the SOMC Hospice
Center, Portsmouth, OH February 28, 2025.   She was born on July 6, 1938, to Emma Maddix Wells and Lester Lee Wells in Garrison, KY.   She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James D. Holbrook, whom she married in Garrison, Ky on September 6, 1954.  They made their home on Schultz Creek, KY.  She is survived by four daughters.

Connie Sue (Mark Smith) Holbrook of Chesapeake, OH, and Connie’s family.    Aaron Michael (Betty) Wolfe Wyatt and Ocean Wolfe.   Brandon Lee Wolfe (Mandy) and their two sons, Blaze Wolfe and Kameron Streiner.

Tamara Lyn Holbrook of Lloyd, KY, and her family.   Tabatha Marie (Jack) Howard, Jack Howard III, Addison Howard, Jacquelene Howard Johnson, Avery and Gavin Johnson, Tiffany Howard, Jacob Jarvis, Braylynn Dillow, and Connor Webb.   Matthew Douglas (Amy) Wireman, Andrew (Whitney) Birchfield, Alaina Birchfield.   Whitney Brook (Ronald) Crabtree.  James Russell (Miranda) Wireman, Skylynn and Rosalie Bradley, Maria Wireman.

Betty Jean (Lonnie Jordan) Holbrook of South Shore, KY, and her family.  Shaea Nicole Duncan (Brendon Ford), Dessa Sue (James Madden) Bryant, Jaden Phoenix Holbrook, and Bobby Sizemore.   Jacob Imel, Belle Madden, and Everly Bryant.    Cristen (John) Hannah, Chloe and Claire Hannah, Courtney (Justin) Adkins.

Angela Marie (Randy) Cooper of Portsmouth, OH, and her family.  Dr. Samantha Jo Yelley (Jason) Marazzi, Adler and Ario Marazzi.  Morgan MacKenzie Castle, Katie Cooper, Isaiah and Aubree Akers, Autumn Cooper.

She is also survived by Randy (Angie) Stone and Brady Stone.  Guyneth thought of Randy as a son.

Guyneth is survived by two brothers, Carl Wells and Lester Lee Wells.  Four sisters, Frances Adkins, Shirley Kilgore, Janet Talbott, and Judy Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Lee Wells and Emma Maddix Wells.  Brother Ralph Lee Wells and sister Garnet Wells.

Guyneth was proud to say she worked at Newell’s Fruit Farm, Star Cleaners, and Williams Shoe Factory as a young woman.   After marriage, she was a devoted mother and homemaker.  She was a member of the New Bethlehem United Methodist Church on Schultz Creek and served as the church treasurer and choir song leader for over 60 years.   She instilled morals and values to her family through the love of Jesus Christ.  Guyneth was a strong prayer warrior and prayed continuously for those in need, her family, and her neighbors.  She leaves a cherished friend in Christ, Katherine Stone, whom she loved like a daughter.

She loved baking and cooking for her family, gardening, and her flowers.  She was an avid Ginseng hunter and enjoyed the outdoors.   Guyneth was also a talented seamstress and never met a pattern she could not make.

There was nothing more special to her than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 11 A.M. Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Bob Thompson and Carl Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Harr Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the funeral home from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. and one hour before the service on Thursday.
