Harriett Jean Zuefle Cassity

Harriett Jean Zuefle Cassity, 95, of McDermott, went to be with her loving Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 9, 2021. She was born January 21, 1926 in New Boston, OH.

Harriett was the daughter of the late Lawrence L. and Harriett A. Zuefle. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert C. Cassity. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Zuefle.

Harriett is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Candace and Daniel Chatfield who reside in Orient, OH; and by her son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Kathi Cassity, who reside in South Shore, KY. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Heather Lynn (John) Sayre, Amy Catherine (David) Rywalski, Meghan Jean (Eric) Merritt, Robert Alvin (Ciara) Cassity, Katherine June (Christopher) Hodge, and Kari Lynn (Joshua) Ward. Harriett is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.

Until she was not able to attend anymore, Harriett was an active member of McDermott Methodist Church. She also attended Porter Free Will Baptist Church in her later years when she was able.

Harriett worked for several years at McDermott Elementary School as an aide; however, her true occupation was a loving wife and mother. She managed her household well.

Harriett was greatly treasured by her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. We can take comfort knowing that she has reached her Heavenly Home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on December 15, 2021 at Porter Free Will Baptist Church, 1343 Dixon Mill Road Portsmouth (Slocum Station), OH, with Mark Price, Timothy Cassity, Joshua Ward, and Judson Ward are officiating. Interment will follow at Scioto Burial Park.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at F.C. Daehler Mortuary in Portsmouth and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Harriett’s favorite charities include the Salvation Army, Sierra Haven and SOMC Hospice.
