If quitting smoking is your New Year’s resolution or you’re ready to take control of your health, the State of Ohio is offering help you quit smoking.

You can call the Ohio Tobacco Quit Line at 1-800-QUIT NOW. The Line provides a personal coach to help you quit and offers free telephone counseling to adults.

If you’re under 18, you can call or text My Life, My Quit at 1-855-891-9989. Kids will be able to talk with a coach using live text messages or an online chat.  You can also find more support online at Ohio Quit.

“As Ohioans make their new year’s resolutions, they can’t go wrong with a commitment to quitting smoking or vaping,” said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. “There are state resources available for those looking to quit, including a program specifically for teens. Individuals can also contact their healthcare provider for help. The evidence is clear, quitting could save your life.”

Ohio recently raised the age to purchase tobacco and other products containing nicotine to 21 back in September and the national age was raised in December. Ohio is also launching an ad campaign called Truth Initiative to discourage young people from vaping.
