High Intruders Menace Portsmouth Residents
A series of intruders under the influence menaced multiple Portsmouth residents. At 2 am, Thomas Avenue residents reported that a woman came to their home and began to get aggressive.
When officers arrived at the scene, they determined the intruder was under the influence of drugs. Portsmouth Fire Department medics transported her to the hospital for treatment.
A Summit Street resident called PPD at 5:30 pm to report a strange man was on her porch attempting to open her doors. She said he had repeatedly come to the home in the middle of the night and scared her family. Police spoke to the man and told him to leave the area or face charges of criminal trespass.
However, the man returned to the home the following evening but left the scene before officers arrived.
Guest Goes Wild at Super 8
A guest at the Super 8 Motel on US 23 raised a ruckus just after 8 am. Witnesses said he had thrown rocks at cars.
When officers arrived, they could not locate him, so they searched the area. The manager called back about 30 minutes later to report he’d returned and was in the lobby arguing with guests.
When officers spoke to the man, they learned he had a room booked until 11. Deputies concluded he might be under the influence or have some type of mental health issue.
Out of Control Man Roams Aisles of Wheelersburg Kroger
Witnesses at the Wheelersburg Kroger reported an out-of-control customer just after 9:30 pm. The man went through the store taking items off the shelf and eating them.
Employees told officers they’d had issues with the man in the past. When Deputies responded to the scene, they discovered the man had open warrants through the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and through the New Boston Police Department.
Officers gave the man a summons to court and dropped the man off at his car.
Man Falls Down Drunk – Officers to the Rescue
Portsmouth Police Officers came to the rescue of a highly intoxicated man just after 1 am. Witnesses reported a man screaming in the street, and officers took the intoxicated man to his father’s home. However, he was too inebriated to get up the steps, so police assisted his father.
However, an hour later, he fell through a window at his home and cut himself. He was still agitated and intoxicated, so officers accompanied medics to the hospital where medical personnel restrained the man for his own safety in order to treat him.
Passed Out in Public
PPD officers responded to multiple reports of individuals passed out in public places.
Just after 2:30, witnesses at the Holiday Inn on 2nd Street reported a man passed out in a silver Kia Van. When medics arrived on the scene, the man refused treatment and left the area.
At 4 pm, a witness reported a woman passed out on the ground in Tracy Park. However, it turned out she was just sleeping. Officers advised her to move along.
An 8th Street caller contracted the police at 12:38 am to report a man slumped over on a porch. Police said the man became coherent after speaking to an officer for a few minutes. He refused medical assistance, and his sister took him in the house to look after him.
Police headed to Franklin Avenue at 7 am to check on a report of a man passed out in a blue truck since late the previous night. The man told an officer he was diabetic and must have fallen asleep due to a blood sugar issue. Police made sure he got safely inside his home.
