A brazen thief managed to steal a valuable guitar from Life Point Church on 11th Street, despite the doors being locked and the alarm system armed.
Officers responded to the church around 5:30 PM after receiving a report that a left-handed Epiphone J-200EC acoustic guitar, decorated with flowers near the cords, had vanished overnight from the kids’ room.
Police took information for a report, but how the instrument disappeared remains a mystery.
How Churches & Organizations Can Protect Valuables
Places of worship and community centers often house expensive equipment, making them targets for theft. Here are some steps to enhance security:
- Upgrade Locks & Entry Points – Use heavy-duty locks and consider smart locks with access logs.
- Reinforce Alarm Systems – Ensure motion sensors cover all areas, not just entry points.
- Install Security Cameras – Position cameras to monitor valuable equipment and record all entry activity.
- Secure Valuable Items – Store instruments, electronics, and other valuables in lockable storage rooms when not in use.
- Implement Check-Out Systems – Require sign-outs for valuable items to track their use.
- Increase Lighting & Visibility – Well-lit spaces deter criminals, especially around entrances.
By tightening security, churches and organizations can protect their assets—and prevent the next holy heist!
