Homeless Trash Tracy Park

Portsmouth Police Officers once again noticed that the area around the stage in Tracy Park was a mess.

Police found several people charging their phones in the stage area and once again advised them to stay off the stage and not to use the city’s electricity.

Officers noted a lot of trash around the bleachers and also found a bag full of medication belonging to a man who is known to frequent the park and whom they asked to leave the previous night. They were able to locate the man and return his medication. Police notified city services to shut off the electricity to the stage and pick up the trash.

About 40 minutes later, city services called to ask for police assistance. Their employees were attempting to clean up the park, but there were between 15 and 20 homeless people in their way. Officers ushered them to a different part of the park.

Around noon, officers checked back in at the park and noticed at least ten homeless people hanging around. Officers advised a man on the stage charging his phone to leave, and a worker said he would look into having the electricity cut off.
