The nightmare began at approximately 8:05 p.m. on March 28, 2026, when a red Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Abigail Young, was heading southbound and slammed into a northbound Kia Forte operated by Tyson McCray. The force of the impact sent the Kia spinning out of control, where it was struck again by a silver Dodge Ram driven by Andy Adkins.
The aftermath was nothing short of heartbreaking. Paulette C. Evans, 53, of Vanceburg, a passenger in the Kia, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by the Lewis County Coroner. While one life was lost, a desperate rescue mission unfolded for the smallest victims; two juvenile passengers were rushed into the sky, airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital. In a glimmer of hope amidst the tragedy, the youngsters are currently listed in stable condition.
Kentucky State Police Post 8 is currently picking up the pieces of this shattered Saturday night. Trooper Jordan Barnett is leading a high-stakes reconstruction of the collision to determine exactly how this highway horror unfolded. For now, the community is left mourning a local neighbor while praying for the recovery of the two children who survived the wreck.
