Husband Takes Over When Ambulances Fail to Show

A Rarden husband took matters into his own hands after an ambulance failed to show up for his wife’s medical emergency.

He called 911 for help at 4:35 am, and dispatch called for a squad for a woman suffering a possible heart attack.  When no one had responded by 4:45 am, dispatch contacted Portsmouth Ambulance.

At 5:25 am, Portsmouth Ambulance told the 911 dispatcher that their truck had broken down.

The woman’s husband called in to tell 911 that he was driving his wife to the hospital himself. He said he was driving at high speeds and had his hazards blinking.

Dispatch notified Ohio State Troopers and Deputies that the man was headed to the hospital.
