It’s always important to monitor transactions on any account, but more important during the holiday season when crooks seem to amp up their activity.
For example, one struggling Portsmouth resident called police to report someone spent $219 from their Ohio Directions Card – in Massachusetts! There wasn’t much officers could do but take information for a report.
Not long after that, another resident contacted police to report someone had ordered things online and charged them to her card. Police took information for a report.
Another man contacted officers just before midnight to report someone stole his wallet. However, a language barrier prevented officers from getting enough information from the guy to conduct a proper investigation.
Police headed to the Riverside Smoke Shop after a dad told officers someone stole his daughter’s wallet and used her credit card at the store. However, since the thief took the wallet from New Boston, officers advised him that they must file the police report there.
