Imaginary Cows, Dead Chickens, and Other Animal Incidents

Animals

Sheriff’s deputies were called in to investigate multiple animal complaints.

They made a repeat visit to one property where a caller had expressed concern that a herd of cows had no food or shelter. The caller said the humane agent had visited, but they were still worried. Deputies said the cows had plenty of food and water and adequate shelter.

A Swauger Valley Road caller contacted 911 to report there were cows loose in his yard and all over the road.  However, he called back twenty minutes later to say he’d fallen asleep, and it was possible he imagined the cows.

A man called 911 at 4:30 pm to report his neighbor’s dog had attacked his chickens.  When officers arrived at the Canterbury Road home, the man’s wife said the dog warden had cited the dog’s owner multiple times. She said her chickens are caged and unable to get out or get away.

An officer headed to the dog owner’s house, but nobody was home. The deputy said there didn’t appear to be any loose dogs when they were there.
