Instructor Faces Jail in Osborne Death

A firearms instructor from the ODRC Training Academy faces 6 months in prison and a $1000 fine after pleading guilty to negligent homicide in the death of SOFC Corrections Officer Lt. Rodney Osborne.   

Osborne was shot last April during a training exercise at the academy in Orient. Prosecutors indicted David Pearson in the death back in July. The Pickaway County Prosecutor said they planned to ask the judge for the maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1000 fine.

According to the indictment, Pearson pointed his firearm at Osborne and pulled the trigger.  A sentencing date had not yet been set.
