Ironton Man Shot and Killed in Franklin Furnace-1 in Custody

According to Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman, at 4:15 am, an ambulance was requested to respond to 141 Tylers Way in Franklin Furnace Ohio. The caller described a male who fell and had possibly suffered a head injury.

He was transported to St. Mary’s Emergency Room in Ironton, Ohio, by Green Township Ambulance. As soon as E.M.S. arrived at the hospital, they learned that the male had been shot.  The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office was then contacted by the Green Township E.M.S.

Deputies and detectives from Scioto County Sheriff’s Office responded to the hospital and the residence to begin an investigation.  An individual, Tracie Darby, was interviewed, and later charged with Tampering with Evidence and Obstructing Official Business.

Charles G. Cremeans, 43, of Ironton, Ohio, has been identified as the shooting victim. Cremeans died from his injuries. His body has been sent to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

Tracie Darby, 53, was arrested in Franklin Furnace, Ohio, on 141 Tylers Way.  Among Darby’s charges are Tampering with Evidence, a felony of the 3rd degree, and Obstructing Official Business, a misdemeanor of the 2nd degree.  Darby is being held without bond at Scioto County Jail.
