Jackie B. Ober, 66, of Lucasville, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024, at his home. He was born June 7, 1958, in Portsmouth to the late John Ober Sr. and Wanda (Lore) Bruseau.
Jackie was a retired lumberjack who also worked as a sandblaster for the painter’s union. He loved enjoying the outdoors, fishing, and exploring the woods. Jackie loved people. He always lent a helping hand to anyone in need and took care of all children just like they were his own. He was a jokester and loved playing practical jokes on people. Jackie also loved his dogs.
Jackie is survived by two sons, Zachary Ober, and David Andrews, both of Portsmouth; two daughters, Jackie N. Ober of Lucasville and Crystal Smith of South Webster; three brothers, William “Bill” Ober of Loraine County, Johnny Ober of Loraine County, and Todd Bruseau of Portsmouth; three sisters, Nancy Dubois of Wheelersburg, Margie Layher and husband Shon of Lucasville, and April Church of West Union; four grandchildren, Joshua Eldridge, Kaylynn Smith, Jasmine Smith, and David E. Andrews; and two great-grandchildren, Jay and Jaxon; and a special friend, Linda Stidham of Portsmouth.
In addition to his parents, Jackie was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Ober, and two sisters, Phyllis Landis and Wanda Little.
