Jackson County Search over – Sheriff waits for autopsy results

Jackson County Sheriff Tedd Fraizer says law enforcement has finished searching the area where human remains were discovered by kids over the weekend.

Frazier said C.H. & D and Erwin Roads were reopened after being closed for the search and apologized for the inconvenience.

Jackson County and Gallia County Sheriff’s personnel were joined by the FBI and the Jackson County Coroner for the search which lasted almost three days.

“We appreciate the support of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Parks and Recreation Division for helping to secure the scene Saturday morning and to my deputies for their hard work and dedication, Sheriff Frazier said.

Frazier emphasized that no victim had been identified in the case despite initial reports from some media sources. “As I stated Saturday evening, no other information will be released on this case until the DNA collected matches an identity. We will not be speculating on any possible identities,” Frazier ended.

The remains were sent for autopsy at the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office and will then go to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for further testing.

Frazier said he spoke with Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and the AG assured him that his office would assist in any way possible to expedite the investigation.
