James Edward Cassidy Sr. 83 of Stout

James Edward Cassidy Sr., 83, of Stout died Sunday, November 9, 2025 at his home. He was born November 25, 1941 in Scioto County, to the late Harry and Helen (Russell) Cassidy. Jim was a United States Air Force Veteran, and retired from Glockner Enterprise, where he was the comptroller.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Jean Cassidy, two brothers, Harry Cassidy and John Cassidy, one sister-in-law Karla Cassidy and one brother-in-law, Ed Mahle.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kim (Stall) Cassidy, his son, James E. Cassidy Jr. (Missy) of Portsmouth, two step-daughters, Amber Bender of West Portsmouth and Ashley Barrowman (Brian) of Canal Winchester, three brothers, Thomas Cassidy (Deanne) of West Portsmouth, Steve Cassidy of Portsmouth, and Joseph Cassidy (Marcella) of West Portsmouth, two sisters, Patricia Mahle of Portsmouth and Janet Clark (Ken) of South Shore, KY, a sister-in-law, Maxine Cassidy of West Portsmouth, and many nieces and nephews.

Jim is also survived by his three granddaughters, Ashlyn Bailey (Tate), Mallory Cassidy, and Sarah Cassidy, seven step-grandchildren, Madison Townsend (Nate), Trenton Madden (Rachel), Mikina Maynard, Bryson Pollard, Breana Pollard, Anthony Young, and Jeffrey Maynard whom he raised as his own since he was an infant. Jim was also expecting his first great-granddaughter in March and his first two step-great-grandchildren in February.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM Friday November 14, 2025 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Graveside military rites will follow at Scioto Burial Park, and will be provided by the American Legion, James Dickey Post #23. A visitation for friends and family will be on Friday, starting at 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM At Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jim to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
