Janice Rose Dodge, 75, of Portsmouth, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at the SOMC Hospice Center. She was born October 21, 1945, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Ralph Lincoln and Ruth Rosemary Beckett Dodge. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Michael Dodge, in 1988.
Janice was a 1963 Portsmouth High School graduate and a 1967 graduate of The Ohio State University with a BA in English. She taught English and journalism in Sidney, OH before moving to the Washington, DC area in 1973, where she worked for several companies doing technical research and documentation. She then formed her own company, Antrim Editorial Services, which she led until her retirement.
Janice was a joyful person and she will be missed by all who knew her. She will be especially remembered by a group of her high school friends with whom she often traveled. Janice loved to travel and enjoyed exploring her Irish roots with a memorable trip to Ireland.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. John Gowdy officiating and interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services Friday.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
