Jarvis Emerson Vanderpool Jr., 97, of South Portsmouth, KY., passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at Hill View Retirement in Portsmouth, OH. He was born in Fullerton, KY., on October 26, 1926, a son of the late Jarvis Emerson Vanderpool Sr. and Gertrude Owens Vanderpool.
Jarvis was a World War II United States Army Veteran, and he retired from Martin & Marietta, where he worked as a Maintenance Mechanic.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Lee Maxwell Vanderpool; one sister, Margaret Holbrook; and two brothers, William Vanderpool and Harold Vanderpool.
Left behind to cherish his memory are one son, Jarvis Vernon (Deborah) Vanderpool of Jacksonville, AR.; one daughter, Lynne (David) Hamilton of South Portsmouth, KY; one sister, Janis Collins of Portsmouth, OH; three grandchildren, Wes (Kelly) Murray of Alexandria, KY., Jenna (Chad) Smith of Hot Springs, AR., and Tyler (Heather) Vanderpool of Los Angeles, CA; four great-grandchildren, Kylee Murray, Gavin Smith, Parker Vanderpool and Charles Vanderpool along with several other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. At 1 p.m., Greg Hudson will deliver a Eulogy and prayer. A private inurnment will be at MT Zion Cemetery at a later date.
