We mourn the passing of Johnie H Smith, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud veteran, who peacefully departed on November 12, 2024, in Wheelersburg, Ohio. Born on August 5, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Johnie’s life was marked by hard work, dedication, and love for his family.

Throughout his life, Johnie exemplified resilience and commitment as a long-haul truck driver in the delivery industry. His passion for the open road was only matched by his love for fishing and painting, often finding solace in creating art while watching the soothing brushstrokes of Bob Ross.

Johnie’s affinity for western films, especially those starring John Wayne, brought joy and entertainment to his days. Yet, his greatest source of happiness was found in spending time with his cherished family, caring for his beloved wife of over 50 years, Dora Jean (Nee Rose) Smith, and his daughter, Michelle Smith, as well as his parents, Homer and Hazel (Nee Wiggins) Smith, and sister Betty Dyer, all whom preceded him in death.

In his selfless service to his family and country, we honor Johnie’s unwavering dedication and loyalty. His memory will forever be treasured by his grandson Nathan Smith and granddaughter, Ashley Smith, two brothers: Bill (Pam) Smith and Jeff (Luvada) Smith of Wheelersburg and all those whose lives he touched.

A private family celebration of life Johnie’s gathering was held on November 16, 2024, in Wheelersburg, Ohio. As we gathered to honor his memory, we reflected on the legacy of a man who gave his all in service to others, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
