Joseph (Joey) Lee Winn Jr. 24, of Portsmouth

Joseph (Joey) Lee Winn Jr

Joseph Lee Winn Jr. (Joey) 24, of Portsmouth, died Saturday, July 29, 2023, in West Portsmouth, as the result of an accidental motorcycle collision. He was born November 13, 1998, in Portsmouth, to Jospeh Lee Winn and Amanda Stewart.

Joey was larger than life and so was everything that he did. He loved to clown around and joke, his laughter was contagious his smile could light even the darkest room. He was the center of attention, and he absolutely loved it. He loved his friends and family fiercely. He was the kind of pet owner that bought his dog Apollo a breakfast sandwich every single time he bought himself one. His eyes sparkled and pride radiated from him when he spoke about his job. He was the self-proclaimed “Best Heavy Machine Operator to ever do it” and recently earned his “white hat”. He was his happiest and most authentic when he was either on his bike or out at the shooting range— he really lived for the thrill of it all.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Michael Williams, Rufford Winn, and Clifford Caldwell. A great-grandmother, Rosemary Stewart-Burchett, and close friend, C.J. Malone.

Joey is survived by his mother, Amanda Stewart (Charles Price), his father, Joey Winn (Rina Winn), a sister, Brittney Winn, all of which are from Portsmouth. A stepbrother, Jeff Godfrey (Angel) of Toledo, several aunts and uncles with special notice being given to Jennifer Williams of Portsmouth, Danielle Henderson (Jacob Ankrom) of Wheelersburg, grandparents, Mary and Mike Henderson of Sciotoville, Ellen Caldwell of Columbus, and Maltie Winn of Portsmouth, along with close cousins Treyvon and Brenden Truett. He is also survived by his girlfriend and her son, Brianna Flannery and Dakota Delotell, as well as his established “crew” of brothers; Austin Mullins (Jenna Star Horr), Mike Adkins, Andrew Scott, Nicky Yapp, Brandon Earley, and Austin Layne.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday August 4, 2023, at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth. Burial will follow at Scioto Burial Park in McDermott.
