Joy Anetta (Rowles) Lutz, 89, of Portsmouth passed away Friday, March 20, 2026 at SOMC Medical Center. She was born August 23, 1936 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Franklin and Mildred (Riffe) Rowles. Joy was a devoted homemaker who found great pride in caring for her family and home. She was a faithful member of Mabert Road Baptist Church, where she enjoyed fellowship and worship with her church family. She will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and the love she shared with her family.
She is survived by one son, William (Nancy) Lutz, Jr.; two daughters, Lorrie (Jeff) Riddlebarger, Amy Beth (Rick) Shope; eight grandchildren, Christopher Lutz, Shawn Lutz, Andrea (Shawn) Grounds, Shawn Miller, Jessica (Lance) Bray, Joshua (Annie) Riddlebarger, Ashlee (Jared) Carmen and Alan Shope; 18 great grandchildren; two brothers, James Rowles, Danny Rowles, and one sister, Rebecca Martin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, William Ronald Lutz on February 9, 2023; one grandson, Eric Miller; one brother, Franklin Rowles, and two sisters, Donna Rowles, and Nancy Rowles.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor David Barth officiating.
