Kenneth Anthony ‘Tony’ Lavinder, 75, of Portsmouth, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at OSU Hospital in Columbus. Tony was born on June 30, 1949, in Portsmouth, the son of the late Jane Ann Lavinder and Kenneth Waldo Troutman.

He enjoyed teaching in the Portsmouth City Schools and was a 1966 PHS graduate. Tony was an Eagle Scout in Boy Scout Troop 14 and later served as the Scoutmaster for the troop for many years. He was also an active member of Cornerstone Church.

Surviving Tony is his wife of 41 years, Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Suzan Akers Lavinder. The couple married in Portsmouth on April 14, 1984.

Also surviving are his children, Jed (Jessica) Lavinder of Maysville, KY, and Toni (Dale) McKinley of South Point; a sister, Jerry Luaces of Naples, FL; four grandchildren, Michael (Madison) Walters, Matthew Walters, Elizabeth Lavinder and Victoria Lavinder; a great-grandson, Asher; three nieces and their families; and his beloved dog, the Nedster.

Funeral services with Facebook Live Stream will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Tom Charles officiating and interment in Friendship Cemetery. Please visit the funeral home Facebook page to join the live stream.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Thursday.
