The Kentucky criminal who went on a wild crime spree that included punching two deputies at the Scioto County Jail was indicted on 11 charges by the Scioto County Grand Jury during its latest session.
Michael Swords, 42, of Greenup is accused of:
- Burglary (2 Counts)
- Disrupting Public Services
- Grand Theft When the Property is a Firearm or Dangerous Ordnance (3 Counts)
- Felonious Assault (2 Counts)
- Breaking and Entering
- Theft
- Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Tampering with Evidence
- Making False Alarms
Here’s how Swords managed to rack up all those charges in a single weekend. It all started with a break-in at Mike’s Auto Sales on Ohio River Road.
Officers say Swords broke into the shop and stole cash, titles, keys, and a Chevy Silverado. He called 9-1-1 the next day to report his vehicle stolen from his job site. However, police discovered the vehicle was actually hidden across the river in Kentucky close to Swords’ home.
Officers discovered the stolen titles and keys, as well as some firearms missing from another burglary in Otway. Swords had buried the weapons near Pond Lick Road
During a video arraignment at the Scioto County Jail, Swords flipped out and assaulted two deputies, punching them in the face. One of the deputies suffered a broken nose and both required treatment at SOMC.
