Officers responded to a report of a hungry kid that turned out to be a bit of an exaggeration and a misunderstanding between a mom and daughter caused a scare. We break down the highlights from the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Grand Theft Auto?

At 2:24 am, a caller from the Four Keys Inn said someone stole her vehicle. She said the thief was caught on video headed towards the Scioto Trail.

Five minutes later she called to say the vehicle had been returned but the keys were missing.

Twenty minutes after that, she located her keys and said she didn’t need to file a report.

Parking Crackdown

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle completely blocking the driveway of a 5th Street home at 7:46 am. The woman said she needed to leave for work. Police issued a citation, called for a tow truck, and impounded the vehicle.

Identity Theft

A Dorman Drive caller reported another case of unemployment benefits identity theft. She said an unemployment benefits card turned up in the mail three weeks ago. She’d attempted to contact ODJFS with no luck.

Kid Reports Parents For Bad Breakfast

A teacher contacted police at 11:36 am after one of her students called to say he couldn’t wake up his mom and dad and that he and his brother were hungry. The teacher also contacted CPS.

However, when police arrived, they found the parents awake and alert and discovered the boy just didn’t like what she made for breakfast.

Unwanted Visitors

Threatened With A Gun

A Harding Avenue caller told police the woman in the vehicle in front of him pulled a gun. He had a partial tag number for the suspect. Police took information for a report.

Misunderstood Mom

A woman contacted the police at 10:18 pm and reported her mother said she wanted to harm herself.

Police spoke with the mom who didn’t know what it was all about. She said earlier in the evening the glass fell out of a door when she shut it and landed on her foot and left a bruise.
