Kids Behaving Badly Around the County

Not sure what’s in the water, but kids have made the police reports a little more than usual. Here’s the rundown.

Kids Trash Park Bathrooms

Officers headed to West Portsmouth after a township trustee called police to report kids had damaged park bathrooms near the firehouse.

When officers arrived, the kids admitted doing the damage and were banned from the park for three months.  Trustees chose not to file charges.

However, one of the children threatened to harm herself, so officers called for an ambulance to transport her to the hospital and attempted to contact her parents.

Kids Play Chicken With Cars

Officers responded to multiple reports of kids playing in traffic.

Callers near the Riverside Café on Jackson Avenue reported around nine children playing the street who refused to move for cars.

By the time officers arrived, the children had left the area.

Officers were called to Gallia and Webster two hours later for a report that three young teens were jumping out into traffic and “playing chicken.”

When officers arrived, two of the three kids took off. Police stopped the boy who remained and advised him to tell his friends to stop it.
