Kids Spotted on High Street Roof

A High Street neighbor contacted police at 4:30 pm to report three kids on the roof across the street. 

When officers arrived, they spotted a kid on the roof who explained he was just playing. 

The officer spoke to the parents, who said they had not realized the kids had climbed out a window and that they would take care of it. 

Pig Runs Loose on Dry Run Road

Just before 6:30 pm, a Dry Run Road caller reported a strange pig in their yard. The caller said he believed he knew where the pig lived.

A deputy stopped at the pig’s house on Wolf Run. However, the piggy parents were not home. The deputy left a note on the door. 

The person who found the pig said they would keep it until the owners came to fetch it. 

Twenty minutes later, a Long Street neighbor reported that their neighbor’s dog came onto his property and attacked his animals. 

Deputies spoke to the dog’s owner, who put the dog up. Officers said they would follow up with the dog warden. 

Burglar Hits Bradford Street Home

A frightening experience for a young girl on Monday night. Just before 9 am, a worried grandfather contacted deputies to report that a burglar had broken into their home while his granddaughter was taking a shower. 

The woman fled the scene in a towel and got into a family car. When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered an open door. They checked the house for intruders but didn’t find anyone inside. 

The grandparents soon arrived home, and deputies searched the area. 

Thief Leaves Drugs Behind at Dollar General

A wanna-be shoplifter left her drugs behind after she was spotted trying to shoplift from the Dollar General in West Portsmouth. 

When employees went to put her cart back, they discovered a jar full of white powder she’d left behind. Officers recovered the paraphernalia covered with a crystal substance and impounded it. 

They told employees to call them if the woman came back. 

Pony Escapes on Carver Ridge Road

Deputies responded to a report of a pony in the road on Carver Ridge Road just after 10 pm. A deputy was on the scene just a few days before the same incident. 

Police made contact with the animal’s owner, and the pony was safely returned home.
