Kimberly Marie Rakes, 54 of Minford died Sunday, January 31, 2021, at her home. She was born June 14, 1966, in Portsmouth to the late Reece and Virginia Thompson Sexton. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Rakes whom she married on June 16, 2009, with 2 brothers; William Thompson and Ryan Sexton.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Blue Run Christian Fellowship Church, and loved listening to Steve Free’s music.
Kimberly is survived by 5 sisters; JoAnn Thompson, Carol (Don) Cooper, Cora Gorman, Dianne Lemaster, and Reeca Ball, a brother, Joseph Sexton, and nieces; Stephanie and Jessica, along with several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, February 4, 2021, at the Blue Run Christian Fellowship Church with Phil Howard officiating and interment in Jacobs Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday starting at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the funeral home.
