Portsmouth Police Officers came to the aid of a troubled woman after an incident on Gallia Street.
The woman called 9-1-1 at 7:35 pm to say that she had mental issues because of past abuse and that she had a knife to protect herself because she didn’t really know the people she was staying with.
Four officers responded to the scene and found that the woman was in pretty bad shape. She had pulled a knife on a man at the residence.
Police arranged to transport her to SOMC for treatment. The man at the residence did not want to press charges, he just wanted the woman to leave and stay away.
He collected the woman’s belongings to return to her. Officers explained to him how to file a protection order.
