Homeless and Afraid at Kroger

Kroger employees contacted officers just after 8 am to report that several homeless people were sitting on the motorized scooters in the lobby intended to use by disabled customers. The men agreed to leave when officers asked them to go.

Two hours later, officers were called back to Kroger for a report of a man with suicidal thoughts. An ambulance transported him to the hospital.

Police responded to the Kroger Gas Station on Gay Street to deal with a homeless man who refused to get off the steps to the office. He claimed that he wasn’t getting down from the steps because there were snakes on the ground. The man agreed to leave the area.

Later that night, officers responded to a report of two men camping out in a tent behind Jack Fish & Sons. The men told police they had permission to camp there, but officers could not confirm that information.

They said a woman who appeared to be on drugs had been in the bathroom for over an hour. They said the woman had a bag with her, and they believed she had stolen items from the store.

Officers arrived on the scene and served the woman with an order barring her from the store.
