Scioto County Deputies responded to the Kroger in Wheelersburg after a report that a man assaulted an employee in the parking lot of the grocery store.
Management said the incident happened in front of the store but was not related to shoplifting. They wanted to press charges and have the individual trespassed from the store.
Officers explained the victim of the assault would have to press charges.
The report did not indicate that the victim immediately pressed charges. In those cases, they are often given a “Victim’s Rights” brochure that explains how and when charges would need to be filed.
